Meanwhile, at the Halloween Fantasy Ball...
The stage is pitch black, all lights are out.
The smell of burning cilantro fills the air.
There is a soft, sultry humming of "Dewlap-a-dew"
in the background. It gradually increases in volume.
Suddenly a tight, bright spotlight pierces the darkness.
It reveals only a paw - one single, charcoal grey colored paw -
hovering motionless over the six steel strings of a red
electric guitar.
The tense crowd grows restless, everyone's butt fur is twitching,
their Seussian feets are rhythmically thumping the floor.
The does in the audience are periscoping everywhere like kanga-
rabbits, trying to get a glimpse of their hero on-stage. Shouts
of "Ears down in front! Only lops in the first two rows!" echo
through the auditorium. The scene is becoming ugly. Fur is
beginning to fly.
FLASH, CRASH, KA-BOOM!!!
The grey paw comes THUNDERING down, raking across the guitar
strings. Screeching feedback reverberates in waves across the
audience. The spotlight erupts. The Charkettes are set swirling
on their pom-pom tails, wailing. A roar of tooth purring
emanates from the crowd.
Streamers from the Chark's black bandanna whip back-and-forth
as he belts out his first tune, "Closer" by Nine Inch [Toe] Nails.
"Got 'em rockin' now!"
"Beach Bunny, Beach Bunny, give me your paw"
"Big bunnies don't cry"
[papaya colada break]
"EMI" by the Sex Pistols
[basil-n-tonic break]
"Angel Baby"
"You Are My Special Angel"
[Rex-on-the-beach break]
"My Bunny Lies Over the Ocean"
"My Bunny Valentine"
[parsely martini (shaken til bruised, not stirred) break]
"Grab that hop gobblin next to you and dance the night away",
he bellows into the microphone, "Let the party begin!"
