INTRODUCING "CHARCOAL" & "ASH"

Charky & Ash

Hello, let us introduce ourselves!

(... wiggling long, porcupine-like whiskers ...)

We are Charcoal and Ash, two new, very young (3 months maybe) rescued bunnies from Miami. You may have heard of us. We were abandonned in a beat-up wooden crate beside a dumpster behind a store on Key Biscayne, but now we are in a foster home. Our foster dad named us "Charcoal" & "Ash" because of our colors. They are cool names for boy bunnies, at least much better than "Chimney" & "Sweep"! Still they don't adequately describe Charcoal's black button nose and black eyebrushes, or my sleek fur coat.

Our foster slaves took us to a rabbit vet today. It was a long car ride and we were very scared because we thought they were going to dump us again, just like on our last car ride. But our new foster mom pet us all along the way to the clinic and back. She was saying something to our foster dad about her arms hurting from petting us so much. The foster dad told her to switch arms (tee-hee). These foster parents are cool and seem trainable. I hope our new adoptive parents will be the same!

Anyway, the vet checked our teeth (they are fine; we could have told her that), our ears (they are fine; we could have told her that), our fur (it's gorgeous, with shimmering highlights; we could have told her that), our ahem, private parts (they are fine, though some parts have not yet descended; we could have told her that). She told our foster parents we were boys (we could have told her that) and that we have to return in a month when we will be mature enough for some procedure which sounded like "parsnip, parsnip" (?) (we did not understand that).

We are very happy now! We have names, we have a play pen, we have love, we have lots of petting sessions and kisses, we have hay, alfalfa, carrot tops, cilantro, apple, pear, oats and lots of bottled water. What a feast, after so many days with just an old pizza crust in the cold night, without proper facilities (no bathroom)! We were slummin' on the wrong side of town back then. But now we are binkying all over the place and purring loudly (in stereo) in our foster parents' arms. Ahhh...

Our foster slaves will be posting a cute picture of us and a letter from us in the grocery stores, drugstores, on a web site, etc. to see if we can find a nice, warm, permanent indoor home (no more drafty, low rent crates for us!). We hope so - real soon!

Our slaves say "Thank you!" to all of you that gave them information and ideas an how to take care of us. Also to all of you who are rooting for us to find a nice home.

Charcoal: "Slaves, please drop a cilantro leaf into my mouth."
Ash: "More carrot top au gratin, sil vous plait."
