Hi Everybunny!

We asked our vet if he knew someone to take care of our bunnies while we are away. He recommended us a woman that loves animals. She had a bunny when she was younger and she is a volunteer in a ferret's shelter.

A couple of weeks before we left, we had her come, pick our bunnies up, show her their playroom, what/how she should feed them, make her put them back in their pens. The bunnies at first did not particularly liked her but as we were there, they sort of thought it was ok. We left many salad plates prepared in the fridge for her and written directions step by step of what to do. She stayed over an hour every day (I felt very guilty that they would only have an hour of playtime, but it was the best we can think of). It was very conforting that they were at home, in their usual place and food and that she will call us when she was done to tell us what happened during that hour. The maximum we were able to leave our beloved creatures was 4 days (leave one early morning, be gone for 2 complete days and come back the next night).

We had plans and tickets to go for 10 days to Hawaii (where we got married) on our second wedding anniversary and WE HAD TO CANCEL, we just couldn't do it. Nobody in my family or friends could understand! They think we are CRAZY (we too!) but WE COULD NOT LEAVE OUR GIRLS FOR THAT LONG!!

Next time we leave for a couple of days, we decided to make the bunnysitter come twice. She works close by so she can come home for lunch, let the bunnies loose and then come back at 4 or 5 and put them back in their pens.

I still think we cannot leave for more than 4 days. Crazy, yes; insane, yes.

Cristina
